A Memorable Event in the Heart of the Moldovan Diaspora

I am delighted to share with you the exceptional cultural event organised by the Moldovan Diaspora Business Alliance, dedicated to Mărțișor and International Women’s Day. This heartfelt celebration took place on 1st March 2025 in Salford, Greater Manchester, bringing together the Moldovan community from across the North of the UK in an atmosphere filled with joy, music, and tradition. This was our second event of the year, the first one took place in January 2025 and was dedicated to Christmas celebrations.

Event Highlights

The event featured a diverse and energetic programme, beautifully blending music, dance, traditional crafts, and consular services, all aimed at bringing the diaspora closer to its cultural roots. Some of the most memorable moments included:

🔹 A special concert led by teachers Maria Borta and Ala Marandici, where both children and talented adults from the Moldovan diaspora delighted the audience with their artistic performances;

🔹 Traditional and modern dances, performed by Razamatraz Theatre School and Family Dance, which added vibrancy and energy to the event;

🔹 Outreach consular services, provided by the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in London, offering essential support to our community members;

🔹 A traditional crafts fair, where skilled artisans from both sides of the Prut River showcased their authentic handmade creations, promoting Moldovan culture and traditions.

The following crafters have taken part in this fabulous event:

🔹Bespoke Gift Ideas with knitted and crochet items;

🔹Anghelina Visan – decorative candles made of natural bee wax;

Artists Who Enchanted the Audience

Music and good cheer were at the heart of the celebration! The audience was captivated by performances from Stanislav Nicolau, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Moldova, and the talented Ana Capcelea-Onuță. As is customary among Moldovans, the event would not have been complete without a joyful hora and sârba, bringing everyone onto the dance floor for a true celebration of spirit and unity.
