On Sunday, June 29, 2025, I had the honour of attending the Investing at Home event, held in London and organized by Invest Moldova in collaboration with Diaspora Invest, with support from the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the United Kingdom. I was present as a representative of the Moldovan Diaspora Business Alliance (MDBA) and, sincerely, I can say it was an experience that enriched me both professionally and personally. Guests of honour included Mr. Igor Grosu, President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Radu Marian, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, as well as advisers to the President of the Republic of Moldova and other Secretaries of State.
It was the first time I had participated in such an event dedicated to investment and collaboration between the Republic of Moldova and its diaspora. Although the distance between Manchester – the city where I live – and London was a real challenge, choosing to attend was a decision I do not regret for a moment. I left the event with a much clearer vision of Moldova’s strategic direction and how each of us can contribute to its development.
Moldova Has a Strategy – and the Diaspora Is Part of It
One of the most important aspects of the event was the presentation of the Republic of Moldova’s strategy for attracting investment and driving economic growth. It gave me a much clearer picture of the country’s current priorities, which are focused on six key sectors with strong potential for growth and investment:
- Automotive Industry
- Electronics
- Agri-Food Processing
- Construction Materials
- Textiles and Light Industry
- Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals
These areas were not chosen at random. Each already has an existing foundation, local resources, a competitive workforce, and tremendous export potential. The fact that the Republic of Moldova is now channelling its efforts toward strengthening these sectors is a strong signal to investors.

Moldova IT Park and the +373 Program – An Opportunity for IT Professionals
Another major point of interest for me was revisiting and updating my knowledge of Moldova IT Park – one of the most innovative legislative and economic initiatives in the tech sector. IT and BPO services remain among the most competitive and promising fields in Moldova.
The +373 Program was also highlighted – an initiative aimed at attracting foreign IT companies to Moldova by offering a series of substantial benefits:
- A flat 7% income tax
- Gross salary equals net salary, eliminating tax ambiguities
- E-park: a virtual office, with no physical presence required
- Fast-track and simplified IT visa for foreign specialists
- Legal guarantees through 2035
The Republic of Moldova is recognized for its high-quality IT specialists, highly regarded and employed by global companies. If you are thinking about starting an IT business or outsourcing services to Moldova, this is a strategic opportunity worth considering.

Although this event was primarily aimed at Moldovans in the diaspora, I strongly believe that the information and opportunities presented are just as valuable for the partners and clients of the Moldovan Diaspora Business Alliance (MDBA).
